Active leader of the Ngati Rehua iwi kaumatua roopu.

As a young child I traveled with our kaumatua/kuia to the Aotea to clear the land.

One of the most successful projects I have managed for our hapu was the return of the school house, school and land that Kawa Marae is sited on from the Ministry of Education at the request of Aunty Tira, Te Arani and other kaumatua.

Oldest son of Te Ruawai and Freda Ngawaka. Kaumatua of Kawa Marae after the death of my father I took on the responsibility of representing my whanau (10 sibling) at a hapu level and the development of our whenua My motivation in life is my three sons and all my moko to know their rich heritage on Ngatiwai ki Aotea.

I’m a qualified master butcher, owner/operator of my own businesses, trained 3 apprentices who certified as butchers and dedicated over 50 years to support whanau, Marae/hapu and iwi functions, tangi with my butchery skills.
